🌱 Jeep Worker Found Dead + 14-Year-Old Shot + New Flight Routes

Here are the top stories in Toledo today:

  1. The Toledo Police Department is investigating several shootings that occurred over the weekend and into this week. Of the shootings reported, one involved a 14-year-old suffering from an accidental gunshot wound to the leg on Saturday. Two different homes were also struck by gunfire, one in the 3000 block of Franklin and another in the 3000 block of Hartman. No injuries were reported in the two house shootings. (WTOL)
  2. Allegiant Airlines has announced a direct non-stop route from the Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport to the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Mesa, Arizona. The new flights are scheduled to begin March 9 and cost as low as $59. (13abc Action News)
  3. A Toledo Jeep employee was found dead at the plant on Monday around 4 PM. Production was not running at the time, and the company is working with Toledo Police to investigate. Second shift on the new Jeep Gladiator side of the plant was canceled for the day as a result. (WTOL)
  4. Toledo woman Abigail Weidman was indicted by a grand jury on Monday on allegations that she stole thousands of dollars from an 85-year-old man with Alzheimer's. Court records indicate there is video of evidence showing Weidman taking the man to withdraw more than $30,000 from a bank over the course of several months. (13abc Action News)
  5. Tuesday saw crews preparing Fifth Third Field, home of the Mud Hens, for several upcoming outdoor hockey events. The stadium will host youth hockey beginning December 16, multiple Walleye games, and Winterfest — which features Toledo alumni facing off against Red Wings alumni. (WNWO NBC 24)

  • The residents of a Central Toledo neighborhood are preparing their next steps to address a nuisance property at 350 Woodruff Ave. between Ashland Ave. and Collingwood Blvd. Though the property's owner, Cathedral Ministries, reports having sent cleaning crews to address the issue, locals say it isn't enough and are asking that the building be boarded up or demolished completely.
