Stewart Academy for Girls, part of Toledo Public Schools. Members also donated hair bows and socks, lead literacy programs and book clubs, and mentor local Top Teens, all aimed at boosting leadership, reading, and confidence among Toledo youth.

Drunk driving crash leaves damaged cars, leaning pole on street, Toledo couple says (13abc.com) — A Toledo couple is dealing with two wrecked cars and a dangerously leaning utility pole after police say a suspected drunk driver crashed near Woodsdale and Prouty avenues. While the driver was cited and released, the family is stuck borrowing a car and waiting on city paperwork and a Toledo Edison repair timeline before insurance claims and full cleanup can move forward.
   

3. Local brain injury resource center's future uncertain, launches fleece blanket sale to raise funds (13abc.com) — Toledo's Traumatic Brain Injury Resource Center, a key support hub for survivors and caregivers, is at risk of closing because the Toledo building it rents has been put up for sale. To prepare for possible higher rent or a move, the center is holding a major fleece blanket sale from September 26 through December 23, hoping community support will keep its life-changing programs running.
   

4. Student-funded solar project gets expansion at UToledo (solarpowerworldonline.com) — Students at the University of Toledo are funding a growing on-campus solar array through a voluntary $5 tuition add-on, with a new 420-kW expansion just completed near the medical center. Using panels from locally connected First Solar, the now 750-kW system cuts campus emissions, supports the regional grid, and gives Toledo students hands-on data for clean-energy research.
   

5. Toledo non-profits by total revenue in 2024 (toledoreporter.com) — Major nonprofits based in Toledo, including ProMedica and Area Office on Aging, generated nearly $1.9 billion in reported revenue in 2024, according to IRS filings. The ranking highlights which local organizations are largest by revenue, how dependent some are on government grants, and how their assets and contributions are changing year over year.
