Here are the top stories in Toledo today:

  1. Toledoan Michael Barbour has been arrested with the help of Toledo Police, SWAT, and the Gang Task Force after a search warrant was issued for a residence on Southard Avenue. Barbour is accused of shooting at someone on Monday and is facing felonious assault charges. (13abc Action News)
  2. A City of Toledo employee has filed a lawsuit accusing his employers in the Division of Streets, Bridges, and Harbor of discrimination and retaliation. The plaintiff, Sammie L. Coleman, has been working in the department since 1994 and claims he has been passed up for promotions in favor of a less-qualified white person. The Ohio Civil Rights Commission has already found probable cause that the city has exercised discriminatory practices. (13abc Action News)
  3. Local group "Save Our Community" is hosting a march this Saturday to protest gun violence in Toledo. The peace rally will run from 3 PM to 6 PM, beginning at the old Lincoln Elementary and ending at St. Martin De Porres. (WTOL)
  4. A Toledo teenager has died after getting shot Thursday night in a Central Toledo home on Montrose Avenue near Dorr Street. 18-year-old Davon Butler had been transported to the hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries. (WTOL)
  5. On Monday a new exhibit highlighting domestic violence awareness was put up at the main branch of the Toledo Lucas County Public Library. Known as the "Silent Witness Project," the exhibit is supported by the Bethany House of Toledo and illustrates the real-life struggles women face with domestic violence. (WNWO NBC 24)

  • "The Alchemist's Dream: Letts, Marino and Muir" art exhibit will be running at 20 North Art Gallery in Downtown Toledo through December 24, 2021. Featuring works by three regional artists, the gallery will host a free "Artist Talk" on November 18, 2021 from 6-9 PM. (toledo.com)
  • Residents of a neighborhood in Toledo are complaining that the city has allowed an alleyway behind the homes to become overgrown; creating structural problems for nearby homes. The City of Toledo and Toledo Edison are apparently at odds as to whose responsibility the cleanup will be. (13abc Action News)
  • Several local Toledo restaurants have been affected by supply chain issues and have been unable to carry menu items week to week. The Ohio Restaurant Association recognizes the problems but anticipates it will continue due to shipping complications and staffing issues. (13abc Action News)
  • Mercy Health and the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services has expanded their Retaining Employment and Talent After Injury/Illness Network (RETAIN) program, which is a federally funded initiative to help Ohio workers. The U.S. Department of Labor has pledged over $18 million to the program for extensions in Toledo and Cincinnati through 2025. (WNWO NBC 24)
