🌱 Toledo Zoo's New Polar Bear + Toledo Bridge Lit Up For Ukraine

Here are the top five stories in Toledo today:
- 27 year-old Christina Price has been indicted for aggravated vehicular homicide charges stemming from the 2021 death of 8-year-old Kyla Brown. Price, who is engaged to the child's grandfather, was driving on the Craig Memorial Bridge in Downtown Toledo when she drove through safety gates and crashed as the bridge was raised. (13abc Action News)
- A murder warrant has been issued for 22-year-old Ofari Smith who allegedly stabbed 33-year-old Whitney Wade, the mother of his children. The incident occurred in the 500 block of Lagrange Street near Huron and Wade was initially taken to the hospital in critical condition but died from her injuries. (WTOL)
- The Toledo Zoo has acquired a new polar bear, 17-year-old Nuka, from the Detroit Zoo as part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums' Species Survival Program. The hope is that Nuka mates with 23-year-old female polar bear Crystal, who has already birthed seven cubs in her life. (13abc Action News)
- The Toledo City Council has approved an additional $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest for the horrific shooting death of 10-year-old Damia Ezell that occurred last month in the Old West End. At-large city councilwoman Cerssandra McPherson initiated the ordinance last week and it was unanimously approved at a meeting on Tuesday. (WTOL)
- Mercy Health Children's Hospital in Downtown Toledo is now owned by Nationwide Children's Hospital following a partnership that began in 2020. President of Mercy Health Toledo Bob Baxter stated the new ownership will advance pediatric care services throughout the region. (WNWO NBC 24)

- Toledo Public Schools has dropped its mask mandate after updates from the Center of Disease Control and Prevention and the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department. (Press Release Desk)
- The Veterans' Glass City Skywalk Bridge in Toledo was illuminated in blue and yellow to show support for Ukraine after a directive made by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine. The Ohio Dept. of Transportation was tasked with illuminating the state's two lighted bridges: the other carries I-90 over the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland. (Fox 28)
- Grammy Award winning rock band Greta Van Fleet will be performing at the Huntington Center in Downtown Toledo this September. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 4 at 12 PM. (WTOL)
- This weekend the Toledo Walleye will play on pink ice to raise awareness for breast cancer. Pink in the Rink Night will be Friday and Saturday and fans are encouraged to wear pink as well. (WNWO NBC 24)
