• Man in critical condition after shooting at University Heights' Bell Tower Center, police say (wkyc.com) — A property maintenance worker was critically injured in an early-morning shooting inside a vacant office space at Bell Tower Center, the redeveloped former University Square in University Heights. Police say the suspect fled before officers arrived, and while they believe the incident was isolated with no ongoing public threat, the investigation by University Heights police and K-9 units is still active.
   

• Orthodox Jewish Man Asks Supreme Court to Hear Home Prayer Gathering Case (vinnews.com) — An Orthodox Jewish resident of University Heights is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review his dispute with the city over whether home prayer gatherings require a special permit. The case, which began with a planned minyan in 2021, could shape how zoning rules nationwide affect small religious meetings in private homes while spotlighting how University Heights applies its regulations.
   

• Police fire pepper spray rounds after fights break out among crowd of youths at Bexley Park in South Euclid (wkyc.com) — University Heights police were among several departments called to help South Euclid officers break up fights involving about 30 youths at Bexley Park after a larger gathering spilled into nearby streets. Officers used pepper-ball rounds on the ground to disperse crowds, no injuries were reported, and four juveniles were briefly detained and released as the investigation continues.
