1. Retired Police Chief Matthew Lingrell named 2026 UHS distinguished alumni (peakofohio.com) — A lifelong Urbana resident and former police chief, Matthew D. Lingrell has been named the 2026 Urbana High School Distinguished Alumni for his decades of service to the community. From leading the Urbana Police Division to launching programs like Safety Town and the school resource officer initiative, Lingrell’s career and family life have remained deeply rooted in Urbana. 
2. State patrol investigating 2-vehicle serious injury crash on state Route 29 (urbanacitizen.com) — A serious two-vehicle crash on state Route 29 in Champaign County Tuesday morning injured an Urbana man and a New Carlisle teen, temporarily closing both lanes. The Urbana driver was taken to Mercy Health – Urbana Hospital with minor injuries, while the other driver was flown to OSU Wexner Medical Center and is now stable.
3. Concert in the park to be held Friday night (urbanacitizen.com) — Urbana families can kick off summer this Friday, June 5, at a free concert in Melvin Miller Park featuring food trucks, local beer from Urbana Brewing Co., and live music. Gates open at 5 p.m., with folk trio After Rain and rock headliner Charlie Bonnet III providing the evening’s entertainment.
4. Big Apple Bishops (owu.edu) — An Ohio Wesleyan student from Urbana Kayden Jacobs ’28, joined fellow WEB Fellows on a May study trip to New York City to explore careers in business, finance, and marketing. The group met alumni working on Wall Street, visited major corporate offices and landmarks, and reflected on how networking, entrepreneurship, and real-world exposure are shaping their academic paths and post-graduation plans.
