City Hall Opens - Arby's Closes - East Of Africa Closer To Completion (thewestervillenews.com) — Westerville residents can now handle permits, utilities, and tax payments in a newly opened one-stop service area at City Hall, part of a $21 million consolidation project nearing completion. The South State Street Arby’s is closed for renovation without its originally planned shared-access road, and roadway work for the East of Africa development is almost finished, improving future access near Yarnell Farm.
   

2. From Municipal Lot To Mixed-Use Landmark (1808delaware.com) — Westerville officials are weighing the sale of the city-owned 64 E. Walnut St. property near Uptown and the public library, a move that could lead to a major mixed-use redevelopment with apartments, a hotel, restaurant, and public parking. City Council begins considering the $2.5 million sale on May 19, with multiple public reviews, traffic studies, and outreach planned before any final approvals.
   

3. Westerville schools skips the pain at the pump by switching from diesel to propane (abc6onyourside.com) — Westerville City Schools is saving up to 20% on transportation costs this year thanks to a long-term shift from diesel to propane buses, helping the district stay under budget despite soaring fuel prices. With 81 of 88 buses now running on propane and more than $900,000 in grants and rebates secured, leaders say the strategy is providing cleaner operations and crucial budget stability.
   

4. Fairbanks, Westerville North fall in flag football regional (dispatch.com) — Westerville North’s undefeated girls flag football season ended May 11 with a 24-0 regional loss to Grafton Midview at the University of Akron. The story recaps how North and fellow central Ohio power Fairbanks entered the Cleveland Browns regional unbeaten, details their seeding and scores, and notes that this is the first OHSAA-sponsored state flag football tournament.
