Another Gun Recovered By Westlake Police

WESTLAKE, OH — Police found a a handgun and a switchblade on a man stopped for a traffic violation near the Super 8 Motel. This is the second handgun recovered by police in two weeks.

On Independence Day, at about 6 p.m., police saw some suspicious activity at the Super 8 Motel. Officers stopped one of the suspicious cars for a traffic violation.

The driver spoke with police and officers noticed he had a semi-automatic pistol magazine in plain view. The driver said he had a handgun and a switchblade in his possession. He did not have a concealed carry permit.

The man was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, improper handling of a firearm, and carrying a prohibited weapon (the switchblade).

On June 29, five days earlier, police found a loaded handgun and a large amount of marijuana inside a car that was also stopped for a traffic violation. The gun, in that case, was stolen from a Cleveland resident, police said.
