Man Smokes Crack, Calls Police Because He Doesn't 'Feel Good'

Westlake officers found the man in a running car parked on a local side street. He admitted to smoking both crack and weed before driving.

WESTLAKE, OH — A man smoked crack and then called police to say he did not "feel good." The man then told officers he had been driving to work when his illness gripped him.

The 911 call to Westlake Police came in at about 4:50 p.m. on October 4, police said. The man said he had pulled his car off to the side of the road because of his condition. Officers were dispatched to find the man.

The alleged crack smoker was found on Bonny Bank Drive, at Clague Road. His vehicle was still running.

The 33-year-old Woodsfield man told police he had smoked both crack and marijuana at his house before driving. He was taken to a local hospital and his medical records will be reviewed by the city prosecutor. Charges are pending, police said.

Three days later another impaired driver would cause an accident Center Ridge and Dover Center roads, hitting an 83-year-old woman's Prius. The elderly woman was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. She is in stable condition, but does have a broken ankle, police told Patch.
