Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
Ever since the quarantine, the employees of Market District Westlake have been nothing but friendly, cheerful, and completely supportive of the customers in a way that made going to the grocery store feel like the only normal thing in a very abnormal time. Today, three days after the governors mandate for masks by employees, they continue to work hard, and be super conversational and friendly.
Equally if not more importantly, I would like to call out all of the customers in the store today, over 90% of us were wearing masks, knowing that the governor said masks were only optional. I have friends living in New York City who share stories of being the only people wearing masks as they walk down the streets and so many others are not. Today, while shopping in Market District, I felt very relieved and very very proud of my fellow citizens for choosing to do the right thing for others and themselves. I know many of us are worried about our health as we begin reentry into the community, and I think the best way we can encourage mutually beneficial and safe behavior from all of us is to hold a light and hold up the right behaviors of the people who still have a choice to make the right decision the safe decision. The media is a powerful tool, and by celebrating those in the public who are protecting each other, I believe we will all see the result we are hoping for.
What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?:
