Westlake Home Burglarized, Nissan Stolen: Police

Someone got into a Willow Run house, stole property and then made off in the resident's Nissan Quest, police said.

WESTLAKE, OH — A Willow Run home was burglarized, police said. Besides stealing property from the home, the unidentified suspects also stole a 2005 Silver Nissan Quest out of the driveway.

The resident of the home discovered the burglary at 1:30 a.m. on August 6. A French door was pried open, and is believed to be the point of entry, investigators told Patch. Police said items were missing from inside the house, but did not say specifically what had been taken.

The Nissan was found on Monday on Burgess Road in Cleveland. A Westlake Police spokesperson told Patch that detectives are hoping evidence collected from the vehicle will help identify a suspect in the burglary.

Detectives are still investigating the break-in at the house.

Burglaries are fairly uncommon in Westlake. The last burglary of any kind happened in July, when a guest at a Westlake hotel managed to get into a few rooms and steal property. The suspect in that case was arrested hours after the thefts were discovered.

In nearby Avon Lake, there was a high-profile burglary about two weeks ago. Someone broke into former Cleveland Cavalier Jose Calderon's Lake Road home and stole a variety of items, and a Jeep.
