WESTLAKE, OH — Westlake continues to reopen portions of the recreation center. The city is now entering phase three of the reopening, which includes new guidelines for using indoor water facilities, outdoor water facilities and the fitness room.

The Recreation Center fitness room is now open to members only (ages 14 and older). Restrictions are in place in the room. No more than 400 people will be allowed in the room at one time. If maximum capacity is reached, members will be asked to wait outside, using 6-foot spacing markers.

Group exercise classes began this week. A schedule of upcoming classes has been posted on the city's website, along with a list of protocols in place to ensure social distancing. Silver Sneakers classes will continue to be held on Zoom.

Only 45 members can use the indoor pool at one time.

Anyone using the pool or the recreation center must practice social distancing and personal hygiene (washing hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds, cover your mouth when you sneeze). All equipment must be wiped down after a workout.

On Wednesday, city-run playgrounds and indoor water features reopened to the public. The indoor Aquatic Center is open to residents 13 and younger, as long as they're accompanied by a parent.

Basketball courts are open only to walkers. Use of the courts for any other reason, including basketball, is prohibited.

Locker rooms and showers are closed until further notice.

Finally, phase five of the reopening plan will see the Westlake Aquatic Center and Peterson Pool reopen to the public on June 13 at 11 a.m.

"The outdoor facility will be open to members of the pool and Westlake residents only. Reservations will be taken starting Thursday, June 11 at noon (ONLINE only) for this weekend," the city said.

"Your cooperation is appreciated during this reopening effort and will have an impact on the city’s ability to take further steps towards greater access to the Rec Center. As always, the safety and well-being of our residents is our top priority. Please feel free to call the Rec Center at 440-808-5700 if you have any questions or concerns," the city said.
