Bartlesville Public Library eliminates late fees for borrowers (newson6.com) — If overdue fines have kept you away from Bartlesville Public Library, you’re getting a fresh start: the library has eliminated late fees and forgiven existing fines when items are returned. Patrons are still responsible for lost or damaged materials, but staff hope the fine-free policy will welcome more residents back to borrowing and programs.
   

2. Bartlesville Examiner-Enterprise to change print frequency to meet evolving reader habits (examiner-enterprise.com) — Bartlesville readers will soon see their local paper in print only on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting Oct. 1, while gaining expanded digital access throughout the week. The Examiner-Enterprise cites rising print costs and changing reader habits but promises continued full access to news, obituaries, classifieds and more through its website and eNewspaper.
   

3. City of Bartlesville offering $1K reward for prosecution in lake vandalism cases (ktul.com) — Bartlesville is offering a $1,000 reward for tips leading to prosecution after repeated vandalism of expensive water mixers at Hudson Lake that help protect the city’s drinking water. The city is boosting patrols, strictly enforcing 6 a.m.–11 p.m. park hours, and warning that continued damage could force a full boating closure if the crimes don’t stop.
   

4. City of Bartlesville extends contract for use of Flock camera (fox23.com) — Bartlesville’s City Council has renewed its contract to keep Flock automated license plate reader cameras in use, despite ongoing limits on how many cameras and where they can be placed. City officials say the system continues to help recover stolen vehicles, find vulnerable missing people, and solve crimes, and they also extended agreements for police tasers, body cameras, and a mental health support program.
   

5. Gov. Stitt Names Lindel Fields as Secretary of Education (bartlesvilleradio.com) — Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt has tapped State Superintendent Lindel Fields to also serve as secretary of education, consolidating the state’s top education roles under one leader. Fields, who previously led Tri County Tech in Bartlesville, will help oversee new reading laws and continued investment in public schools while Stitt thanks outgoing secretary Dan Hamlin for his service.
