📰 News we're reading
• Community rallies around Checotah girl battling rare disorder (fox23.com) — Checotah neighbors are rallying around young Elaina Hayes, who’s living with Rett Syndrome, by organizing the third annual Elaina Rett Run and Car Show at the Checotah Sports Complex this October. The event helps pay for her medical travel, specialized equipment like a safer car seat, and raises awareness so first responders and residents better understand children with rare disorders.

• Several Oklahoma bills aimed to clamp down on AI misuse. They failed (oklahoman.com) — Checotah residents are represented in a growing debate over artificial intelligence, as local Rep. Neil Hays pushed—unsuccessfully this year—for a bill to criminalize deceptive AI use of someone’s likeness. His proposal was among several failed efforts to regulate AI in Oklahoma politics, prompting Gov. Kevin Stitt to warn he may call a special session.
