• 2 LA County men to be sentenced for smuggling Guatemalan immigrants into U.S. for $15K-$18K each (presstelegram.com) — A massive human smuggling ring is drawing to a close in federal court, and part of the case centers on a 2023 crash in Elk City that killed seven Guatemalan immigrants, including three children. Prosecutors say the driver was moving undocumented passengers cross-country when the wreck happened, and one accomplice is already serving time in Oklahoma while two ringleaders await sentencing in Los Angeles.
