📰 News we're reading

• Guthrie FFA closes chapter on longtime greenhouse, looks ahead to new facility (guthrienewspage.com) — Guthrie High School’s longtime FFA greenhouse is being retired as Guthrie Public Schools moves forward with a new agricultural education facility funded through careful building-fund budgeting. Program leaders and Superintendent Mike Simpson say the modern greenhouse will expand hands-on opportunities in agriculture, horticulture, and floral design while honoring more than 50 years of memories and community support behind the original structure.

• Oklahoma adds alpha-gal syndrome to its list of tick-borne illnesses (kosu.org) — A Guthrie woman’s long-delayed diagnosis with alpha-gal syndrome helped spur a new Oklahoma law that will require doctors and labs to report cases of the tick-borne allergy starting in November. Her experience, including a tick bite in her Guthrie garden, underscores growing concerns for farmers, hunters, and outdoor workers statewide as officials seek better data and resources.
