James Beard semifinalist to close downtown Oklahoma City restaurant (oklahoman.com) — Downtown Oklahoma City is losing Naija Wife Kitchen, the acclaimed Nigerian-American restaurant from James Beard semifinalist Tahnee Francis, with its final day set for Sept. 25. Francis, an OKC native, says circumstances beyond her control forced the closure and is inviting the community to stop by in the coming weeks to share one more meal and goodbye.

Search underway for jet skier who did not resurface in Lake Stanley Draper, police say (koco.com) — Emergency crews are searching Lake Stanley Draper after witnesses say a man removed his life jacket, jumped from a jet ski Sunday night, and never resurfaced. Oklahoma City police, fire, multiple boats, and the city's police helicopter are involved in the ongoing search, and the man's identity has not yet been released.
   

3. Stay gold as 'The Outsiders' musical returns to Oklahoma for OKC debut (oklahoman.com) — A major Broadway tour with Oklahoma roots is headed to Civic Center Music Hall, with "The Outsiders" making its Oklahoma City debut Aug. 25-30 and kicking off OKC Broadway's 2026-27 season. The lineup includes big-name shows like "Hamilton," "The Phantom of the Opera," "The Notebook," and more, giving local theater fans plenty to plan for over the next year.
   

4. Man survives DUI crash in SW OKC, family warns against impaired driving (news9.com) — A southwest Oklahoma City family is grappling with injuries and mounting bills after an alleged drunk driver crashed into Elpidio Lopez's car near SW 59th and Walker as he took his wife to dialysis. Lopez remains hospitalized with serious injuries, while relatives urge OKC residents to avoid impaired driving and are seeking community help as he temporarily loses his ability to support the household.
   

5. Oklahoma Monarch Society launches five-year conservation plan (koco.com) — Announced in Oklahoma City, the Oklahoma Monarch Society's new five-year action plan aims to boost monarch butterflies and other pollinators across the state. More than 60 partners are tackling habitat loss, mowing practices, and pesticide use, while inviting residents to learn how their yards and local policies can better support these vital species.
