Benefits of joining Friends of the Tulsa City-County Libraries

The Friends of the Tulsa City-County Libraries, http://www.tulsalibrary.org/friends, was founded in 1957. Since then, the organization has supported the library system through diverse programs and activities as well as responding to necessities and concerns throughout the system. At the link above, you will find information about the Friends and a membership form.

  1. Provide opportunities for yourself and other Tulsa County residents to participate in programs that are both fun and informative.
  2. Support the library staff. Your membership provides scholarships for continuing education and funds staff training days.
  3. Be an advocate on behalf of libraries in our community and across the state.
  4. Champion literacy through support of the library’s Summer Reading Program and the First Book initiative that provides books to children from low-income families.
  5. Thank every library volunteer across Tulsa County with the annual volunteer recognition party hosted by the Friends.

Some of the programs sponsored by the Friends include the Adult Creative Writing Contest, Books Sandwiched In, First Book, Great Decisions, Music Sandwiched In, and Travels With Tulsans. In addition, The Friends provide support for library staff through scholarships to continue library education and on staff appreciation day.
