Here are the top stories in Beaverton today:

  1. Beaverton Farmers Market reminds folks that it's a great time to explore all the varieties of ice cream the market has on offer. Handel's Ice Cream and Garry's Meadow Fresh (Lady Lane Farm) both sell scoops onsite every Saturday. There are also lots of options for toppings among the stalls, including a drizzly chocolate sauce from Suzanne's Chocolates and 29 Kettle Confectionery's seasoned and candied nuts for a bit of crunch. 2. Take a dive into the world of inks and local business with an overview of the recent mashup from Eastman Kodak and Pacific Office Automation. The duo announced Wednesday that the Beaverton-based company will now be a key distributor of Kodak digital print solutions. (I like to imagine it went down much like Michael signing Hammermill in that Office episode....) (Ink World Magazine)
  3. Tune into a KXL recording of Mayor Lacey Beaty talking about city issues. Beaty discussed the recent shift to a council-manager system of local government, South Cooper Mountain development and the possibility of an In-and-Out Burger on Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway. She notes that Beaverton has experienced growth amounting to the size of the town of Cornelius in recent years, along with all the new restaurants, services and potential problems that fast growth brings. (750 KXL)
  4. KOIN provides an update on one local teen's efforts to help those experiencing homelessness. Mountainside High School junior Aidan Ionis started the 'Giving Bag Initiative' in April, providing hand-delivered bags filled with food and toiletries. Ionis has raised about $2,500 via GoFundMe and other sources, and he plans to keep the kindness going. (KOIN.com)
  5. Beaverton High alum Sam Noyer says he's 'comfortable' with his new team at OSU while competing for a starting spot. Three other teammates are contending for starting quarterback at the Beaver's season opener on September 5: Tristan Gebbia, Chance Nolan and Sam Vidlak. Fans can check out the lineup at a scrimmage Saturday at Reser Stadium. (Corvallis Gazette Times)
