In wake of Dallas shootings, the police department appreciates the outpouring of support they have received.

In the wake of the shooting in Dallas that left five police officers dead and seven others wounded, police departments around the country have been receiving outpourings of support.
That is certainly true in Beaverton.

Over the weekend, a man stood for hours at a Beaverton intersection urging people people to hug a police officer.

The Beaverton Police Department reports that people have been stopping officers on the street to say thank you. They have received emails, cards, flowers.
People are dropping off food.
"I am overwhelmed at the outpouring of support we have received from our community in response to the tragic loss of lives of these five heroes in Dallas," says Beaverton Police Chief Geoff Spalding.
"The Beaverton Police Department sincerely appreciates our community and the generous support we continue to receive."
