🌱Missing Teen Sadly Found Deceased + New NAMI Mental Health Program

Here are the top five stories today in Beaverton:
- Around one-third of students struggle with mental health, according to experts. Beaverton School District is offering new resources to help students address this growing need. The National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) of Washington County is set to host a free six-session seminar for parents, caregivers and others who care for children and teens designed to equip families to deal with these increasing challenges. Sessions begin May 16 via Zoom. (KGW.com)
- A sad update about missing Conestoga Middle School student Milana Li came in on Tuesday evening. Authorities say that the 13-year-old was found deceased near Southwest Horizon Boulevard and Southwest Barrows Road. Li went missing from her home near Southwest Murray and Scholls Ferry Road on Sunday evening. (Fox 12)
- Tourism in Washington County grew in 2021, according to new data released by the Washington County Visitors Association. Visitor spending was up 83.2% between 2021 and 2020. Total visits also increased. The agency says 2.7 million travelers stayed overnight at least one night in the region during that period of time.
- Get a glimpse of Loyal Legion's hidden cocktail bar Flora in the latest article from Andi Prewitt. The upstairs spot opened in late April, with much enthusiasm from the community. The article describes the space as an "intimate and refined" alternative to the beer hall below. (Willamette Week)
- Check in with the local dance scene with interviews with dancers from Washington County by reporter Sally Segar. Teens from the West Haven-Sylvan area, Beaverton's Arts & Communication Magnet Academy and Aloha share their thoughts on their upcoming show. Entitled "Current/Classic," the performance will take place on Friday, May 13, and Saturday, May 14, at Lincoln Performance Hall at Portland State University.
