• Inside the Thorns and Fire's new home, Portland's first joint women's sports facility (nytimes.com) — A major women's sports summit at Nike's Beaverton headquarters helped unveil the new Kaiser Permanente Performance Center, a shared training home for the Portland Thorns and Portland Fire in nearby Hillsboro. The $150 million facility is designed specifically around women athletes' needs, from shared recovery spaces to flexible training rooms, and is already becoming a powerful recruiting tool and model for future pro sports complexes.
