1. Bend approves climate pollution fee in 4-1 vote (opb.org) — Bend has approved a new climate pollution fee on gas appliances in newly built homes, set to start April 1, 2027, with a 4-1 council vote. The fee, up to about $3,000 per new gas-powered home, will fund local climate projects while exempting existing homes and all-electric builds. Supporters and critics in Bend are already debating its impacts on housing costs, jobs, and the power grid.
