Bend Celebrates 100 Years of Water with Exceptional Quality Report (ktvz.com) — Bend’s drinking water met or exceeded all state and federal standards in 2025, and the city is marking “100 Years of Water in Bend” with a detailed new quality report. Residents can see exactly where their water comes from, how it’s treated, and what testing shows about safety. 3. Four-Story Affordable Apartments Planned For Heart of Bend's West Side - The Source - Bend, Oregon (bendsource.com) — A 64-unit affordable apartment complex called Milltown Landing is planned for Bend’s west side near the Deschutes River, with all units reserved for households earning under 50% of area median income. Funded in part by the City of Bend’s Affordable Housing Fund and a federal grant, the four-story project has sparked neighborhood debate over traffic, parking, and building height as it moves toward a projected 2028 opening.
   

4. Community unites for mental health awareness walk in Bend on Sunday (ktvz.com) — Bend residents are invited to join NAMI Central Oregon’s Community Mental Health Awareness Walk this Sunday, May 17, at 9 a.m. in Pioneer Park on NW Wall Street. The free, 2-mile, wheelchair-accessible route focuses on reducing stigma, sharing stories, and building support for “Mental Health for All” while raising funds for local education and services.
   

5. From Bend classrooms to 'Bridgerton,' violinist Leah Beshore inspires through music (centraloregondaily.com) — A Bend-based violinist and orchestra director is shaping young musicians at Bend High and Pilot Butte Middle School while also recording for major TV shows like “Bridgerton.” Leah Beshore’s story highlights Central Oregon’s thriving music community and how local classrooms connect to big-stage opportunities, inspiring students to see music as a long-term journey, not a sprint.
