Visit Bend Launches Survey to Shape Future Tourism Strategy (cascadebusnews.com) — If your Bend business or nonprofit serves visitors, Visit Bend wants your input now on how tourism dollars and programs should be shaped in the city. Completing the new industry survey will help guide future policies, marketing, and advocacy, and participants can enter a drawing for two $300 gift cards while influencing how lodging tax revenue supports the community.
   

2. This Bend library lends power tools, not books, and it's saving DIYers thousands (centraloregondaily.com) — Bend residents can borrow everything from tile cutters to gardening tools for a low income-based annual fee at the Central Oregon Tool Library, instead of buying pricey equipment they’ll rarely use. Located in a large shipping container at the Bend-Redmond Habitat for Humanity ReStore, the nonprofit relies on donations and grants to help locals tackle home and yard projects affordably.
   

3. 'Something real that we're losing': Tactics board shop in downtown Bend Closes (ktvz.com) — A longtime downtown Bend skate and clothing hub, Tactics, has permanently closed after financial struggles, just weeks after marking its 10-year anniversary. Staff describe the shop as a vital hangout and creative community space, and former employees now plan new projects while rumors swirl that an outdoor clothing retailer may take over the vacant spot.
   

4. Redmond Airport will host TSA PreCheck enrollment event Oct. 20-23 (ktvz.com) — Central Oregon travelers, including many from Bend, can sign up for TSA PreCheck at Redmond Municipal Airport during a special enrollment event Oct. 20–23. Appointments in the terminal conference room will handle applications, fingerprints, and photos, with most approved flyers getting a Known Traveler Number in just a few days before the busy holiday season.
