• Board of Trustees declines to approve student fee-funded electric boiler proposal (dailyemerald.com) — University of Oregon trustees meeting in Eugene delayed approval of a student-backed plan to use building fees for a new electric boiler system, a move tied to cutting campus emissions. Students and administrators will keep negotiating, and the board may reconvene before June 30 to reconsider the $15 million proposal affecting one of Eugene’s largest emitters.
   

• Lane County middle schoolers race student-built EVs in EWEB's battery-powered challenge (kval.com) — Lane County middle schoolers just put their engineering skills to the test at the Eugene Water and Electric Board’s EV Challenge, racing more than 100 student-built electric cars. The EWEB/4J partnership uses this hands-on competition to teach energy, aerodynamics, teamwork, and STEM problem-solving in a fun, locally rooted science curriculum.
   

• Fall Internship Opportunity at SCUA! (uoregon.edu) — A paid archival internship this fall at the University of Oregon’s Knight Library will bring one student to Eugene to work in-person on the Ursula K. Le Guin email collection. The position runs October 2026 through June 2027, pays $17.50 an hour, and requires archival- or data-related coursework plus a commitment to work on-site in Eugene.
