• Florence's 5th Annual Festival Books Opens New Pages to Oregon Coast This Weekend (beachconnection.net) — Florence residents can dive into a full day of books, workshops, and author talks this Saturday, September 26, as the 5th Annual Florence Festival of Books fills the Florence Events Center. With low-cost admission, free student entry, and a packed schedule of local and regional writers, it's a chance to celebrate the town's growing literary community and discover new stories close to home. 
• Two Deadly Crashes This Weekend Near Oregon Coast, Including 4-Month-Old Girl (beachconnection.net) — Near Florence, two separate crashes on Highways 42 and 126W over the weekend left multiple people dead, including a four-month-old girl and a teen. One wreck followed a police pursuit in Myrtle Point, while the other happened east of Florence on 126W, drawing responses from Western Lane EMS, Siuslaw Valley Fire, and Lane County deputies.
