We are in Code Red. Our community’s blood supply has dropped to an emergency low, with less than a 1 – 2 day reserve of critical blood types and platelets, and patients in local hospitals are counting on us to act immediately.
This emergency comes during the 100 Deadliest Days of summer, a time when we need to celebrate lifesaving generosity—not face a crisis. To meet patient needs, we’ve had to bring in blood from other parts of the country, but that’s not sustainable. The solution starts here, with you.
How can you help? We’re urging everyone who is eligible and feeling healthy to fill immediate appointments at a donor center or blood drive near you. Did you know that only 3% of people donate blood? If just 1% more people donated, we could stabilize the supply and prevent this emergency from worsening.
Please bring a photo ID and prepare by eating a hearty meal and staying hydrated; note that for safety, no visitors under 16 are allowed at the donation site.
