Brush fire burns 103 acres near Highway 207 (eastoregonian.com) ā A fast-moving brush fire burned just over 103 acres south of Hermiston on May 29, temporarily closing portions of Highway 207 and Interstate 84 but sparing homes and lives. Umatilla County Fire District No. 1 and multiple neighboring agencies, along with local farmers, contained the wind-driven blaze in a few hours and monitored hot spots into the night while investigators work to determine the cause.

Suspect fleeing rape charges captured in Oregon (elkhornmediagroup.com) ā A police pursuit from Washington ended in Hermiston, where Oregon State Police and the Umatilla County Sheriffās Office arrested a Richland man early Friday. He remains in the Umatilla County Jail on local charges tied to the chase, while Washington authorities pursue serious felony allegations including second-degree rape and kidnapping.

OSP helps catch rape suspect near Umatilla, nabs drivers for DUII (eastoregonian.com) ā State police handled several DUII cases in Umatilla County, including a rollover crash on I-82 near Hermiston that sent a Heppner driver to Good Shepherd Medical Center. Troopers also arrested a Hermiston teen for DUII and helped other agencies capture a rape and kidnapping suspect pursued from Washington into Oregon.
