League Of Women Voters Host Election Events In Washington County
Two election-related informational events will be held in Washington County on Oct. 3 and 11.

From The League of Women Voters of WA:The League of Women Voters of Washington County will host two election-related informational events for voters before Nov 6th to help voters learn more about what will be on their ballots. In addition the League will distribute Voters Guides at libraries and other locations throughout the county.
The first event is Oct. 3rd at the Hillsboro Public Library, 2850 NE Brookwood Pkwy. Candidates and local organizations will have tables from 4-6 p.m. upstairs for voters to meet and ask questions and get information about area civic and activism efforts.
League presenter Eric Schmidt will lead a discussion on Measures 103 and 104 from 6-8:30 p.m. also upstairs in the Event Room.

On Oct. 11th the League of Women Voters of Washington County will co-host with the Washington County Public Affairs Forum a debate from 6:30-8:30 p.m. between the two candidates for the Washington County Chair seat, Kathryn Harrington and Bob Terry. The event will also feature both sides of Measure 105, Repeal Sanctuary State Law.
Rob Solomon, president of the Forum, will moderate both debates. Both candidates will be asked prepared questions and be allowed one chance each at rebuttal per question. Questions will not be shared with candidates ahead of time, and will be written by members of both the Forum and the League. Some audience questions will be taken as time permits.

Speakers for and against Measure 105 will follow the county chair debate and the format will be similar with rebuttal allowed once per question. Speaking in favor of Measure 105 will be Richard LaMountain, a Washington County resident and member of Oregonians for Immigration Reform, which supports the measure. Speaking against the measure will be Maria Caballero Rubio, executive director of Centro Cultural de Washington County.
The Thursday event at the Hillsboro Civic Center, 150 E. Main St., will also feature other area candidates for state legislature and Hillsboro City Council from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The public is invited to come and meet the candidates, ask them questions and learn about the different races that will appear on their ballots.
The debate will be livestreamed by TCVTV and later aired on its YouTube channel and public access channels.
