Hood River Man still Missing After Kayak Found Adrift With Motor Running (columbiacommunityconnection.com) — A Hood River man is still missing and presumed drowned after his motorized fishing kayak was found drifting near the confluence of the Hood and Columbia rivers Thursday afternoon. Local marine patrol, aircraft, tribal police and Hood River Police joined the search, which has now shifted to a recovery effort. Authorities have not yet determined how he became separated from the kayak.

2. 8 Most Neighborly Towns In The Pacific Northwest (worldatlas.com) — Hood River gets singled out as one of the Pacific Northwest’s most neighborly towns, thanks to its bustling farmers markets, historic Carnegie library gardens, and active arts and history museums. Farmers Across Oregon, Washington & California Are Eligible For Federal Emergency Assistance Following Flooding, Wildfires (pnwag.net) — Hood River County farmers and ranchers are now eligible for low-interest federal emergency loans after March storms and flooding, alongside producers in several other Oregon and Washington counties. Additional disaster designations for wildfire-hit areas may also benefit neighboring counties. Local producers should contact their USDA Farm Service Agency office soon, as application deadlines fall in December and next May.

4. Wyden raises concerns after AI company films near tram (koin.com) — A tech firm with an office in Hood River, Sightline Intelligence, is under scrutiny from Senator Ron Wyden after it used aerial footage near OHSU’s Portland tram in a marketing video, raising privacy concerns. The company says the 2014 footage never trained its AI, has been deleted, and that its products don’t use facial recognition. Wyden says he’ll keep monitoring to protect Oregonians’ privacy.
