• Controversial farm waste pits try to reopen in Marion County (statesmanjournal.com) — Hubbard residents should know that state regulators are reviewing whether a large countertop-waste pit on Whiskey Hill Road can be considered a “beneficial use,” which could allow dumping to continue. The same Hubbard-based excavator also built a similar pit in Aurora, and both sites have drawn environmental complaints, enforcement actions, and an ongoing lawsuit involving the Hubbard property owners.
