• Malheur National Forest firewood permits now available for online purchase (usda.gov) — Residents who cut firewood on the Malheur National Forest can start getting required permits online beginning October 6, while still having the option to visit the John Day ranger office. The new e-Permit system offers free personal-use permits and low-cost commercial permits, but users must print tags and carry maps and regulations when cutting and hauling wood.
