• Bridge project in La Grande to affect traffic beginning Aug. 24 (lagrandeobserver.com) — Lane closures on Interstate 84 in La Grande start this week as ODOT begins a two-year project to repair the bridges over North Spruce Street. Drivers between Exit 259 and the Highway 82 overpass should expect single-lane traffic, slower speeds, and changing patterns through October while crews build crossovers for major bridge work planned in 2027.
   

• Oregon Trail Electric linemen strike 'likely,' union official says (lagrandeobserver.com) — A possible strike by Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative workers could soon affect OTEC's La Grande office, with local linemen involved in tense negotiations over discipline, wages, and benefits. Union leaders say they're making one last attempt at a deal, while also challenging a recent OTEC board election decision they link to the ongoing labor dispute.
   

• Idaho Power to sell its Oregon service territory for $154M t... (lmtribune.com) — Electric customers in La Grande could see their power provider change, as Idaho Power seeks approval to sell all its Oregon service territory to Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative. The deal would shift about 20,000 customers in Eastern Oregon counties, aiming to keep rates stable amid rising energy demand. Regulators in both states still must sign off.
