• Strange blue sea creatures are covering parts of the Oregon Coast (centraloregondaily.com) — Lincoln City beaches are among several Oregon spots where masses of bright blue velella velella, or “by-the-wind sailors,” have been washing ashore since March. Scientists say this rare spectacle offers a chance for beachgoers to help track sightings through apps like iNaturalist, improving understanding of these jellyfish-like drifters and the changing Pacific conditions that bring them in.
