• Harvest Festival returns in August in McMinnville (youroregonnews.com) — A major late-summer outing is coming up just southwest of McMinnville, as the Yamhill County Historical Society hosts its annual Harvest Fest on Aug. 29 at the Yamhill Valley Heritage Center. Residents can explore historic farm machinery, watch blacksmith and sawyer demos, enjoy live music, family activities, and local food, all while learning about Yamhill County’s agricultural roots.
   

• Hillsboro Medical Center to close one of Oregon's few geriatric psychiatric units (oregonlive.com) — McMinnville’s Willamette Valley Medical Center is highlighted as one of Oregon’s remaining inpatient geriatric psychiatry programs, likely to see more referrals after Hillsboro Medical Center closes its 21-bed unit in September. The closure will leave just two such specialized hospital programs statewide, raising concerns about already tight capacity and longer waits for vulnerable older adults needing psychiatric care.
   

• Oregon Retreats on Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing — Shelterforce Shelterforce (shelterforce.org) — McMinnville is called out among Oregon cities that have drafted housing production strategies but, according to advocates, failed to use detailed mapping to reveal segregation patterns. The piece argues that without geospatial analysis, cities can claim progress while still siting affordable housing away from opportunity-rich neighborhoods, and urges the state to require stronger, map-based fair housing planning.
