George Fox softball splits doubleheader with Boxers, Bearcats up next (newberggraphic.com) — George Fox University’s softball team, based in Newberg, is closing its regular season with home doubleheaders against Willamette on April 25-26, chasing a spot in the Northwest Conference tournament. The Bruins just split a road series with Pacific, highlighted by a dominant 9-0 shutout before dropping a tight 2-1 rematch.

Newberg Woman Recounts Escape From Charles Street Apartment Fire, Urges Residents to Prepare Go-Box (newsberg.org) — A Newberg woman and her son escaped a fast-moving apartment fire on Charles Street by climbing down a neighbor’s ladder, but lost nearly all of their belongings. She’s now urging neighbors to keep vital documents in an easy-to-grab, fire-safe box so they’re not left starting from scratch after an emergency. Local agencies and family are helping her find new housing.

3. Construction Underway on Public Safety Parking Lot in Memorial Park; Gazebo to Be Moved (newsberg.org) — Construction is underway on a new public safety parking lot next to Memorial Park in Newberg, temporarily serving TVF&R during Station 20’s rebuild and later providing overflow parking for police. The beloved Memorial Park Gazebo and its plantings are being relocated within the park and to other local sites, continuing a community-built legacy while making room for emergency services needs.

4. ‘The Saint John's Bible' Heritage Edition Now on Permanent Display at George Fox University (georgefox.edu) — George Fox University in Newberg has placed its full seven-volume Heritage Edition of The Saint John’s Bible on permanent display in the campus chapel, complete with a custom-built Oregon white oak case. Community members are invited to visit and attend weekly Wednesday “page turning” sessions during the school year, where Professor Paul Anderson highlights different illuminated pages tied to the liturgical calendar.

April 21 Yamhill County Sheriff's Office outstanding warrants (newberggraphic.com) — Local residents are being asked to help Yamhill County authorities locate several people with outstanding warrants, and tips can be directed either to the sheriff’s office or the Newberg-Dundee Police Department. The notice lists individuals wanted for offenses ranging from DUII and theft to drug charges and harassment, along with key phone numbers for Newberg police and county detectives.
