• Newberg council votes to ban memorials at flagpole (youroregonnews.com) — Newberg’s city council has moved toward banning long-term memorials at the First Street flagpole, instead requiring displays to be removed immediately after protests or vigils, with leftover items cleared by public works within about 48 hours. The change, backed by Mayor Bill Rosacker and a council majority, follows months of debate over memorials for people killed by ICE officers and will return for final legal review before adoption. 
• Carlton man nabbed in drug bust in Newberg (newsbreak.com) — Law enforcement officers arrested a Carlton man in Newberg after a traffic stop at the Portland Road Walgreens led to the seizure of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl. The interagency operation, led by Yamhill County’s street crimes and narcotics teams with a Washington County K-9, is part of ongoing efforts to keep dangerous drugs out of Newberg and surrounding communities.
