1 of 2 Megabucks Jackpot Winning Tickets Claimed

Portland resident Tarver Hannant claimed half of the $9 million prize from the Oct. 25 drawing, but there's still one more winner out there.

PORTLAND, OR — A Portland man came forward Monday to claim half of the Oregon Lottery's $9 million Megabucks jackpot from the drawing on Oct. 25.

Portland resident Tarver Hannant, 39, took the one-time cash payment of roughly $1.5 million after taxes, lottery officials said, noting there is still one more person somewhere in Oregon with an unclaimed jackpot-winning ticket.

The winning numbers from Tuesday's lottery drawing are: 12-21-30-42-44-47

Lottery spokesman Patrick Johnson said this is the 13th time since 1985 — when the Oregon lottery began — that multiple jackpot winners have emerged from a single drawing, though the last time two tickets shared a Megabucks jackpot was in April 2009. Three Megabucks jackpot winners emerged from a drawing in August 1988, dividing a $5 million prize.

Hannant reportedly bought his ticket from the Overlook neighborhood Plaid Pantry at 1505 N. Going St. in North Portland, making this the third time this year a Portland metro Plaid Pantry has sold an Oregon Lottery ticket worth $1 million or more.

"Plaid Pantry is a locally owned and operated company with 109 stores and we are very pleased to have a third store sell a jackpot ticket this year!" Plaid Pantry President and COO Jonathan Polonsky said in a statement. "The Oregon Lottery does great things for the state and local economies and Plaid Pantry is very proud of our long-term partnership with them."

Previously, Vietnam War veteran Richard Leber of Clackamas won the Oregon Lottery's $1 million St. Patrick's Day Raffle prize when he bought his ticket from a Clackamas-area Plaid Pantry in March; and Portland resident Jason Golding won a $1 million prize after he bought his ticket from the Plaid Pantry on Marquam Hill, west of Oregon Health & Science University, at 915 S.W. Gibbs St. in May.

Since its formation 30 years ago, the Oregon Lottery has brought $11 billion to the state for economic development, public education, state parks, and watershed enhancements, Johnson said.
