BREAKING: Person of Interest in Murder of Portland Mom in Custody in California

The "person of interest" wanted in connection with the murder of a young mom from Portland is in custody in California. Jesse A. Lane is being held in Santa Barbara County jail pending extradition back to Portland.

The Columbia County Sheriff's Office says that Lane is wanted in connection with the murder of 24-year-old Apache Rose Hightower whose body was found in a rural part of the county last week.

Hightower, who was murdered, was the mother of an 11-month-old daughter, Luna. Her family says that Lane is Hightower's ex-boyfriend.

Lane, who was considered armed and dangerous, is a convicted felon. He's being held on a warrant from the Oregon State Parole Board.

On Wednesday, the sheriff's office postedvideo of two cars driving on Old Portland Road the morning of the murder and asked people to come forward, describing them as potential witnesses.

Lane's extradition hearing is scheduled for Friday.
