Pee-wee Pub Crawl - Fundraiser for PDX Cat Trapper

Portland, Oregon’s first-ever Pee-wee Pub Crawl, on Saturday, September 26th, 2026, celebrates all things in the Pee-wee Herman/Paul Reubens Universe, but is timed to coincide with  the 40th anniversary of the television debut of Pee-wee’s Playhouse, in September 1986, on CBS, where it ran for four glorious years.

The Pee-wee Pub Crawl will take place in the Clinton/Division neighborhood of Southeast Portland, from 3-9pm, on Saturday, September 26th.

Attendees are encouraged to come in costume - anything from a simple red bow tie, to full regalia, as their favorite Pee-wee Herman Universe character, from Large Marge to Chairry!

There will be Pee-wee Universe costume contests, Pee-wee look-alike (“I know you are, but what am I?”) and laugh-alike contests, a Pee-wee’s Playhouse trivia competition, a ‘Tequila’ dance-off, and a cat scavenger hunt!

Cat scavenger hunt?!  The Pee-wee Pub Crawl is a benefit for PDX Cat Trapper. PDX Cat Trapper is a grassroots, 100% volunteer-driven feral cat rescue group. 

Not so fun fact: A single unaltered cat and all her offspring having a litter of 4 each over a 10-year period, results in a startling 1,398,101 cats. 

PDX Cat Trapper is interrupting the alarming feral cat reproductive cycle and humanely supports our area’s community cats.

PDX Cat Trapper practices ‘trap-neuter-return,’ and are responsible for hundreds, if not thousands, of community cats getting fixed every year. They also organize cat colony medical care and feeding services through their all-volunteer grassroots outreach program.

PDX Cat Trapper is a registered 501(c)(3) charity, and will receive 75% of the proceeds from ticket sales to the PWPC, as well as cash donations collected from the public via donation jars at the participating bars. . 

PDX Cat Trapper was chosen not only because the organizers of the Pee-wee Pub Crawl are all great cat lovers, but so was Pee-wee Herman!

Paul Reubens was a lifelong animal lover, most especially, of cats. 

When he passed away, he was the loving cat dad of an untouchable feral, Samantha Reuben-Tenderheart, whom he rescued and for whom he built a large catio, when she made it clear she was not to be an indoor cat. 

Samantha now lives with one of his best friends, who just happens to be the internet’s famous The Kitten Lady!

There will be PDX Cat Trapper cash donation jars stationed at each of our bar stops and the public at large will be encouraged to donate to this very worthy cause. 

The Pee-wee Pub Crawl will be a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon reconnecting with one of your old Saturday morning favorites, while connecting with other local Pee-wee Herman fans and cat lovers, alike!

Pee-wee Pub Crawl participating bars will create their own Pee-wee Herman inspired drink and food specials. Large Marge-aritas and Ice Cream Soup, anyone? 

The Pee-wee Pub Crawl is the brainchild of the Paul Reubens Pacific Northwest fan club founder, Meredith Walter, and is being organized and led by Jen Lane, of Portland’s beloved BarFly Magazine and BarFly Bar Tours. 

BarFly conducted dozens of pub crawls for hundreds of guests, every year during its 20 years in the Portland scene (BarFly quickly succumbed to COVID, and ceased operations in 2020). The Pee-wee Pub Crawl will be a chance to recreate, and perhaps even remember, the BarFly Tour experience

The Pee-wee Pub Crawl will be held on Saturday, September 26th, 2026, from 3-9pm. All of the bars will be in the Division/Clinton neighborhood. 

Participants will be traveling between stops on foot or non-motorized wheels (no driving, please!). 

This will be a 21 and up, only, event.
