Five Things to Do in and Around Portland This Weekend

Father's Day events and more.

1. Show Your Pride - It's the Portland Pride Festival this weekend and given the tragic events in Orlando last weekend, attendance is expected to be even larger than normal at the Official Portland Trans Pride March. it kicks off Sunday at 11 a.m. at the North Park Blocks. 2. The 46th Annual Delya Park Powwow and Encampment - This event has been happening every since 1970. Tribes from all over the Northwest gather to celebrate their heritage and share it with the curious. There is drumming, craft exhibitions, dancing, and more. The event runs Friday until 10 p.m., Saturday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.. As you might guess, it's at Delta Park in North Portland. Head here for more information.

3. Juneteenth Celebration - It's Portland's annual event marking the day that slavery ended in the United States. The highlight is the parade which gets underway June 18th at 10:45 a.m. at the intersection of Northeast 8th Avenue and Northeast Jarrett Street. Head here for more information.

4. Thinking of something to do on Sunday with Dad? How about head to Alpenrose Dairy for a visit to Dairyville, their Western-themed town, which has almost everything you might find in the Old West including an old fashioned ice cream parlor, school house, post office, and bank. 5. If you ask my wife, what's better than berries? Chances are she will say, nothing. And chance are she is right. So, maybe head on over to the Strawberry Festival at Lee Farms. Open from 9 a.m until 6 p.m.. Head here for more information.
