As for fireworks:
1. Waterfront Blues Festival puts on Oregon's largest fireworks display. The 22-minute display with 11,800 shots will be simulcast on KINK. Head down to see it and not only do you get a good show launched from a barge in the Willamette - you also get to help the Oregon Food Bank.
2. Don't want to wait until Monday? Lake Oswego kicks off a day early with a performance of patriotic music by the Millennium Concert Band and a presentation of colors by the Lake Oswego Honor Guard. The event starts at 7:00 p.m. at Millennium Plaza Park.
3. Sometimes you have to cross the river. The annual fireworks display at Fort Vancouver National Site has been going on for 50 years and is always something to behold. Gates open at 8:00 a.m. and there is music and shows all day long, culminating with the fireworks launch at 10:05 pm..
4. Head to the Gorge and check out the annual 4th of July event sponsored by the Hood River Lions. There is a parade beginning at 8:30 a.m. and fireworks in the evening.
5. Planning on being on the coast? Head to Manzanita. The day is event filled - starting with the pancake breakfast fundraiser for schools at the old fire house, followed by BBQ hosted by the Emergency Volunteer Corps. There is a parade at 1:00 p.m. and, of course, the fireworks around 10:00 p.m..
6. Head to the Amusement Park at Oaks Park for the "4th of July Spectacular." There will be be live bands, fireworks, and a BBQ. Parking is free but there is a small fee at the gate.
7. What's better than fireworks - except maybe a baseball game with fireworks. Both the Portland Pickles and Hillsboro Hops have home games Monday evening. Each has fireworks afterward. The Pickles game starts at 7:05 at Walker Stadium in Lents. The Hops game starts at the same time at Ron Tonkin Field in Hillsboro.
