Police Summer Camp Rescued
The Rosenbaum comes to the rescue, guaranteeing another year for the popular summer program

Just one month after announcing it would not be able to hold its annual summer camp, the Portland Police Bureau says a well-known charitable fund has come to the rescue.
The Bureau says that the Camp Rosenbaum Fund, which runs Camp Rosenbaum, will organize and manage the camp this year.
"The Portland Police Bureau's work with our city's youth is a long standing tradition -- even more important today than in years past," said Mark Rosenbaum. "The Camp Rosenbaum board is pleased to join other bureaus and organizations who are stepping up to make the continuation of this camp and its impact on our community's children possible."

The Police Bureau's announcement was begged to a staffing shortage, which has required the bureau to transfer officers from specialty until to patrol.
"Chief O'Dea and I are working to address the urgent staffing needs. But there is also a critical need to preserve this police and youth relationship-building opportunity," said Mayor Charlie Hales.
