Roosevelt HS Vandalism: Police Bust Five From Rival High School
Five students were arrested in late October.
Portland Police say that five students from a rival high school were responsible for vandalism that caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage at Roosevelt High School. The students from David Douglas High School were arrested on October 26th at their school.
The students, ages 15-17, are charged with criminal mischief and second-degree burglary. The damage, which had been estimated at $300,000, is now estimated at twice that.
The damage was caused on October 15th. Roosevelt was hosting a basketball tournament at the time.

The vandalism started in a third floor science room where an emergency eye wash shower was turned on. The water then leaked to the second and third floor. The school's basketball coach discovered the damage the next morning.
Six classrooms and three offices were affected as well as several bathrooms. Ceilings, walls, floors, computers, elevator, and personal property from teachers & students was damaged. Teachers and students have been moved to temporary classrooms including inside the school gym.

Principal Filip Hristic said at the time that students from another school had been caught on camera.
