Stranger Danger Warning After Teen is Targeted

Police say a stranger tried to lure a 14-year-old girl in a car.

A stranger tried to get 14-year-old girl to get into his car outside of Floyd Light Middle School in Southeast Portland Thursday morning.

It happened around 11:45 at the school at 10800 Southeast Washington Street.

The teen told police she was walking on SE 100th Avenue between Main and Market Streets when a dark grey sedan pulled up next to her.

The driver - a clean cut white man in his 40s - yelled to her that she should get in the car.

She refused. She was never touched. The man never got out of his car.

The incident follows three last week, also in Southeast Portland.

The Portland Police Bureau would like to remind parents to talk to their children about "stranger danger" to keep them safe. Some excellent tips from the National Crime Prevention Council about stranger danger are available at https://www.ncpc.org/topics/violent-crime-and-personal-safety/strangers If any residents in the area of this incident have residential surveillance cameras, investigators are asking them to check recordings for any possible images of the suspect.
