3. $20M illegal weed bust leads to arrest in Oregon (alaskasnewssource.com) β A massive three-day drug operation in Marion and Clackamas counties, coordinated from Salem, shut down six illegal marijuana grow sites and seized more than 110,000 plants, 81,000 pounds of processed cannabis, 86 guns and cash. One suspect was arrested, dozens of laborers were found living in harsh conditions, and investigators are probing possible human trafficking and environmental violations affecting nearby communities.

Asante Staffing Battle Moves to Salem With $1.56 Million in Penalties (grantspasstribune.com) β Health-care workers from Southern Oregon recently came to Salem to urge lawmakers to revisit Oregon's hospital staffing law after more than $1.56 million in penalties hit Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center. Their push could shape future staffing ratios, enforcement rules, and penalty limits statewide, with any legislative changes decided in Salem affecting hospitals and patients across Oregon.
