1. 12 teachers among 33 Springfield Schools staff cuts as district seeks $7.5M in reductions (nbc16.com) ā Springfield Public Schools will cut 33 full-time equivalent positions, including 12 teachers, as part of a $7.5 million budget reduction for 2026ā27. District leaders blame declining enrollment and say stabilizing housing, jobs, and community support is key to protecting local classrooms and improving already below-average test scores.

Family Searching For Missing 15-Year-Old Last Seen In Springfield Sunday (thatoregonlife.com) ā A Springfield family is urgently asking for help finding 15-year-old Alexa Ausmus, last seen near 30th Street in Springfield around 7 a.m. on May 11. Sheās described as 5-foot-1, about 105 pounds, with dark shoulder-length hair. Anyone in the Eugene-Springfield area with information is urged to contact Springfield Police and help spread the word.

3. Lane County Farmers Market will be opening a new Sunday Market in Springfield soon (klcc.org) ā Starting next month, Springfield residents will get their own Sunday Lane County Farmers Market at the City Hall parking lot, expanding the long-running Eugene market across the river. Shoppers can expect Oregon-grown produce, flowers, and Double Up Food Bucks for SNAP users, making fresh food more affordable while supporting local farmers and food businesses.

Springfield councilors express support for proposed county indoor sports facility (lookouteugene-springfield.com) ā Springfield city councilors are signaling support for a proposed $60 million indoor multisport facility, with a former Royal Caribbean building off Gateway Street as a leading site. The countywide project could bring dozens of tournaments, thousands of overnight stays, and new visitor spending, but Springfield officials still want answers about traffic, coordination with Willamalane, and how the public-private funding would work.

Moms and daughters unite on the field for Mother's Day flag football (kezi.com) ā Springfield moms and daughters recently marked Motherās Day with an all-girls flag football showcase at Willamalane, organized by local group Grab-It.
