• State officials review Salem Health-Santiam deal (thelundreport.org) — A proposed merger would fold Santiam Hospital in Stayton into the Salem Health system, bringing a $61 million investment, shared medical records, and higher pay scales for local staff. State officials are now reviewing the deal, which could expand maternity care, better use Stayton’s underfilled beds, and keep more Santiam Canyon patients receiving treatment closer to home. 
• Mill City hasn't had a pharmacy since 2020. A hospital is building one (statesmanjournal.com) — Residents who now drive to Stayton for prescriptions may soon have a closer option, as Santiam Hospital is turning Mill City’s former U.S. Bank building into Santiam Pharmacy. The new pharmacy will complement Santiam Hospital’s main campus in Stayton and its regional clinics, aiming to end the Santiam Canyon’s status as a pharmacy desert once it opens.
