The Rush to Build Data Centers on Public Lands Is Worse Than You Thought (outdoorlife.com) — Residents near Umatilla should know a large, still-mysterious data center is being discussed for Bureau of Land Management property outside Hermiston, according to the Umatilla County Board of Commissioners. A new national Data Center Tracker tool shows how similar massive facilities across the West are rapidly proposed on public lands, raising concerns about water use, wildlife impacts, and higher power bills for nearby communities.
