Deputies searching for missing Umatilla County man last seen in SW Washington (kptv.com) — Umatilla County deputies are asking local residents to help find 72-year-old Michael Hugh Jones, who left his Weston home on September 8 and has since been seen at Walmarts in Warrenton and Chehalis, Washington. He has an intellectual delay, takes heart medication, and may be traveling with unknown men, so anyone spotting him should call the sheriff's office and reference case #26-0983.
3. Umatilla Electric wins 4 NWPPA communications awards (eastoregonian.com) — Umatilla-area residents can take pride that Umatilla Electric Cooperative just earned four top communications awards from the Northwest Public Power Association, including perfect scores for photography and social media. The Hermiston-based utility was recognized for clear, timely outreach that helps keep local members informed and connected to their cooperative across the region.
4. The Rush to Build Data Centers on Public Lands Is Worse Than You Thought (outdoorlife.com) — Residents near Umatilla should know a large, still-mysterious data center is being discussed for Bureau of Land Management property outside Hermiston, according to the Umatilla County Board of Commissioners. A new national Data Center Tracker tool shows how similar massive facilities across the West are rapidly proposed on public lands, raising concerns about water use, wildlife impacts, and higher power bills for nearby communities.
