PENNSYLVANIA — A liberal super PAC is launching a major ad campaign in Pennsylvania and two other swing states as election season intensifies, a new report published Tuesday indicates.

The campaign will launch in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin on Wednesday, and in Michigan on March 10, according to Politico. It's being run by American Bridge 21st Century, an organization that works to elect Democratic candidates.

President Trump narrowly won all three of those states over Hillary Clinton in 2016. Those combined 46 electoral votes were crucial in determining the outcome of the election, and pundits have frequently pointed to the President's ability to connect with working people in those states as a key reason that he won.

The campaign will include ads on a variety of platforms, including TV, radio, and Hulu, as well as online media, according to the report.

With a hotly contested Democratic primary raging, the ads will not back any individual liberal candidate, but will rather focus on spreading an anti-Trump message, specifically aimed at communicating with 2016 Trump voters who may be disaffected.

"I don't think the President understands service," a military veteran, who notes he voted for Trump in 2016, says in one of the ads that will play in Pennsylvania. "I'll vote for more Republicans, but not Donald Trump."

Nearly $182 million has been spent by Republican and Democratic super PACs combined during the 2020 election cycle, according to the watchdog site OpenSecrets. The often-controversial committees can raise unlimited sums from donors, provided they do not coordinate their advertisements with any candidate's campaign. Super PACs have raised concerns from voices on both sides of the political spectrum over the influence of money in politics.

For nearly a year now, polls have shown former Vice President Joe Biden holding a strong lead over President Trump in Pennsylvania, with the most recent average of polls giving him a 7 point lead, according to RealClearPolitics.

However, Biden has fallen behind new Democratic front runner Sen. Bernie Sanders in the primary. Sanders also leads Trump in the Keystone State by 3.7 points, according to the same polls.

The Pennsylvania Democratic primary will be held on April 28.
